VA Certificate of Eligibility

VA Certificate of Eligibility

The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is a document that verifies your eligibility for a VA loan and that you have met the military service requirements established by the Department of Veterans Affairs. There are several ways to obtain your COE:

  1. Online: You can apply for your COE through the eBenefits portal, which is run by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is the quickest and most convenient way to obtain your COE.

  2. By mail: You can request your COE by completing VA Form 26-1880 and sending it to the VA Regional Loan Center (RLC) that serves your area.

  3. Through a VA-approved lender: Many VA-approved lenders have the ability to obtain your COE through an automated process, which can save you time and effort.

  4. By visiting a VA Regional Loan Center: You can also visit a VA Regional Loan Center in person and submit your request for a COE and other required documents.

It’s important to note that for all of the above methods, you will need to provide proof of your military service, such as your DD-214, discharge papers, or other military service records.

Obtaining your COE through Fidelity Home Group can be one of the quickest and most convenient ways to get your COE. Many VA-approved lenders have direct access to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ automated database of service members, which allows them to quickly verify your eligibility for a VA loan and obtain your COE. This process can often be done in minutes, and you can have your COE in hand right away.

This option eliminates the need to wait for the mail or visit a VA Regional Loan Center, and it also eliminates the need to submit the form yourself. This process is faster and less prone to errors. Your lender will be able to check your COE and take the next steps in the loan process as soon as it is received.

It’s important to note that you should work with a lender who is knowledgeable and experienced in handling VA loans. They will be able to guide you through the process and help you understand the requirements and documentation needed.

Veterans and active duty military members may need to submit additional paperwork, such as discharge paperwork, certificates of release, and service documentation on official military letterhead. National Guard and Reserve members may need to submit a retirement points statement and honorable service evidence. Surviving spouses may need to submit additional documents, such as VA Form 21P-534EZ, to receive Dependency and Indemnity Compensation benefits for VA Home Loan.
